Dr. Sarika, please tell us about your journey as a certified ophthalmologist at the Indovision Cataract & Laser Eye Centre.
Dr. Sarika Sethia is an enthusiastic Ophthalmologist practicing in Pune since 2015. She is a Laser Vision Correction and Advanced Cataract Lens Implant Expert. Dr. Sarika Sethia completed her M.B.B.S in 2012, after that she pursued M.S. in Ophthalmology. She has been awarded University Gold Medal for securing the highest marks in Master of Surgery.
She has also pursued Diplomat of the National Board in ophthalmology. She has completed many fellowships and training courses in advanced cataract and laser vision correction surgeries. She has worked at Smt Kashibai Navale Medical College as Assistant Professor for 2 years. She is on a panel of doctors in prestigious hospitals in Pune like Jehangir hospital, Sanjeevan hospital, and Global hospital. Currently, she is a director and Chief Ophthalmologist at Indovision Cataract & Laser Eye Centre.
She has been invited as a guest speaker at various conferences like the iBeach Film Festival Goa & 72nd International DOS Conference. What is the impact of increased screen time on overall eye health in kids & adults?
Since the pandemic, we are homebound. Online schooling and work from home is part of daily routine, increasing our screentime tremendously. Prolonged use of digital devices such as mobile phones, tablets lead to a variety of eye problems known as digital eye strain.
It is also known as computer vision syndrome or visual fatigue. The inevitable increase in digital devices has affected people across all age groups. Higher cases of childhood myopia have been reported since the pandemic.
