A new initiative, Gastro AI Academy, has been launched by leading gastroenterologists in India to advance healthcare technology in the field of gastroenterology. The academy aims to revolutionize the discipline by offering free artificial intelligence (AI) education to gastroenterologists and surgeons, thereby enhancing patient care through the use of advanced technology. The goal is to prepare healthcare professionals for the future and empower them to leverage technology for societal benefit. Fujifilm India has partnered as an academic collaborator for this initiative.
Dr. Amit Maydeo, Chairman of the Institute of Gastrosciences at HN Reliance Hospital, emphasized the importance of innovation in gastroenterology. “The field has seen continuous advancements, leading to improved patient care and faster recovery times due to endoscopic procedures. AI represents a significant leap forward in healthcare, and while numerous research projects are underway globally, the impact and potential of AI cannot be ignored. Gastro AI Academy aims to equip young gastroenterologists with the knowledge and tools to be future-ready, by bringing together leading global AI experts to provide insights into AI, its ethical use, and integration into patient care workflows.”
Dr. Rajkumar P. Wadhwa, Chief Gastroenterologist and Head of the Institute of Gastroenterology at Apollo Hospital, Mysore, noted the significant contributions of Indian gastroenterologists to the field. He expressed gratitude for the support from international AI experts and emphasized the importance of expert-curated programs to distill relevant insights from the vast amount of available data.
