The Star Health and Allied Insurance, one of India’s leading standalone health insurers, formally launched its pioneering CSR, or Corporate Social Responsibility, program. This is Star Arogya Digi Seva, in partnership with the CCDC, or Center for Chronic Disease and Control. This revolutionary program brings together the promise of telemedicine technology with Mobile Health Units to address various health-related issues in remote districts all over India.

As a first phase, the initiative will work with five Aspirational Districts in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh covering 74 villages across 10 districts. It will specifically target NCDs like diabetes and hypertension while promoting preventive healthcare. Star Health aims to bridge this gap for healthcare in rural India by improving accessible and affordable health care to all those who need it through launching the initiative.

Anand Roy, MD and CEO of Star Health Insurance, said that the initiative was important and said, “Star Arogya Digi Seva is more than a CSR initiative; it reflects our commitment to making quality healthcare accessible to all, no matter where people live or in what circumstances. In fact, in marrying technology with direct services, we’re creating a model that empowers communities, advances disease prevention, and improves lives.

At Star Health, we believe in driving initiatives for preventive healthcare and wellness, commensurate with the IRDAI’s mission of Insurance for All.

The Arogya Digi Seva program will integrate advanced telemedicine solutions with the fully-equipped Mobile Health Units providing a wide range of services from diagnostic testing to real-time consultations with healthcare professionals, immediate treatment, and regular follow-ups. It will also lay special emphasis on chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension and educate the community on iron nutrition.

A patient-centric approach is adopted by the program, with telemedicine for consulting and Mobile Health Units to ensure that treatments and examinations reach people’s doorsteps. The project aims at first to reach out to areas such as Ramanathapuram, Manapparai, and Chennai in Tamil Nadu with further expansions planned.

This initiative reconfirms the commitment of Star Health Insurance toward making healthcare more accessible in rural India. Innovations in healthcare solutions and community empowerment through Star Arogya Digi Seva would ensure that thousands across the country are impacted forever-more, particularly those in less-privileged areas.
